WHAT WE DO

Impact and Achievements

Duapa has made significant strides in its mission, including organising counselling sessions for parents of children with learning disabilities, conducting campaigns and outreach programs, and facilitating activities such as quizzes, debates, inter-school sports competitions, donations, and cleanup exercises. These initiatives have fostered inclusivity, raised awareness, and contributed to the well-being of children with learning disabilities.

Partnerships and Collaboration

Duapa has forged strong partnerships with governmental agencies in Ghana and international bodies to ensure a unified approach in addressing the needs of children with learning disabilities. These collaborations enhance the effectiveness and reach of our programs, enabling us to make a lasting impact.

Governance and Transparency

Duapa upholds principles of governance and transparency. We maintain a robust corporate governance structure and have a dedicated board of directors responsible for guiding the organisation’s affairs. This ensures accountability and effective decision-making, allowing us to fulfil our mission with integrity.

Funding and Sustainability

Duapa’s funding and sustainability rely on a combination of fundraising
initiatives, donor agencies, grants, partnerships, and philanthropic
contributions from both local and international sources. We are grateful for the support we receive, and we continuously explore opportunities to secure resources that enable us to sustain and expand our programs.

Volunteers and Support

Duapa values the contributions of individuals, volunteers, and supporters who
share our passion for making a difference in the lives of children with learning disabilities. We welcome individuals who have personal experience with learning disabilities, as well as parents who have children with such disabilities. Together, we form a supportive community that works towards our shared vision.

Growing up, children with learning  disabilities may encounter several challenges including:

Z

Academic Difficulties

Learning disabilities can impede academic progress, making it harder to keep up with peers in areas such as reading, writing, math, and comprehension.

Z

Behavioural Challenges

Frustrations with learning can lead to behavioural problems, including acting out or displaying disruptive behaviour in classrooms or at home

Z

Transition to Adulthood

Transitioning into adulthood may present additional challenges for individuals with learning disabilities, such as navigating higher education, employment, and independent living.

Z

Social and Emotional Issues

Some children with learning disabilities may experience social and emotional difficulties, such as feelings of frustration, low self-esteem, and a sense of isolation

Z

Reduced Opportunities

Children with learning disabilities may have limited access to certain opportunities or experiences, requiring additional support or accommodations that can lead to a sense of exclusion

Z

Impact on Self-Esteem

Learning challenges can affect self-esteem and confidence, as children may compare themselves unfavourably to their peers.
